Becoming a Knifemaker
Hi my name is Dominic Majkic (Dom), I'm the face behind Majkic Knives. When I look back on my beginnings as a knifemaker, I wouldn’t say that now I’ve made it, nor would I say I’m where I want to be, but what I would say is that I am well and truly on my way. I've been knife making for over ten years and at the age of 23 I believe my journey with majkic knives is just beginning and I am dedicated to see just how far I can take this knifemaking adventure.

People always ask, “when did you start making knives”, and to tell you the truth I couldn’t honestly say. Ever since I was really young, I always liked making things, using any two things I could get my hands on to make them into one. Naturally, this grew, and grew, and one day it turned into a knife…. Or something along those lines, because its not like that first knife was anything special by any stretch of the imagination, however, it was mine and I had made it. And well as the cliché goes… it took off from there!
So, from the age of around 9 or 10 I began my journey as a knifemaker. My first few knives I made with my dad. Using recycled steel, timber from around the shed and picking his brain for all the information I could get we managed to make the first things I could confidently call knives. Although there came a time when my knowledge about knives outgrew dads, and my desire to make knives every chance I got meant knifemaking became more of a solo mission, I could never had gotten my start without his help, knowledge and support.

​Fast-forward a couple years and I had started selling a few knives…. First to family and friends….. then to friends of friends…. And then to people I didn’t even know who just simply wanted one of my knives, something that still motivates me to this day.
Fast-forward again and we are HERE! Majkic Knives has grown into something 10 year old me couldn’t have imagined! It’s a privilege to be able to do what I love, express my creativity and supply YOU my customers with something that is useful, unique, of the highest quality, but will also last you a lifetime. I couldn’t have gotten here without all my customers and the support you guys continue to give me. So sincerely, Thank you.
